Cycles of Pilea is an audio visualizer created using TouchDesigner.

Biosignal data collected by measuring the microcurrent fluctuations off the leaves of three separate Pilea Peperomioides: a young and propagating plant, a dying plant, and a mature plant. The biosignals were then used to generate MIDI notes on three musical scales playing at once. In the composition, the combination of traditional Chinese and Norwegian musical instruments flows together to provide a sonic ambiance. The data was then run through TouchDesigner to create an audio visualizer with instancing and displacement.

Cycles of Pilea was featured in Abstract Mine 2022, the 7th International Exhibition on Abstract Art at the CICA Museum in South Korea
